
No. 22 Alabama Downs Ole Miss in 5-2 Victory

The Crimson Tide used wins on four singles courts in addition to a pair of doubles wins to secure the team victory
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The No. 22 Alabama men's tennis team (16-11, 5-6 SEC) topped Ole Miss (10-14, 2-10 SEC) in a 5-2 victory at the Alabama Tennis Stadium on Friday.
Alabama swept the opening point, tallying victories from Roan Jones and Matic Dimic on court three and Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster on court two. The Crimson Tide would follow by winning its matchup on four singles courts as Jones, Aguiard, Filip Planinsek and Foster posted victories on courts five, four, one and six, respectively, to secure the overall team win.
Match Notes
- After trailing early in the set, Matic Dimic and Roan Jones battled their way to the Tide's first win of the day, taking a 6-3 victory over Isac Stromberg and Noah Schlagenhauf on court three
- The 46th-ranked doubles duo of Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster secured the opening point moments later with a 6-4 victory against Carson Baker and Josh Hallquist Lithen at No. 2
- It took Jones a little over an hour and 15 minutes to claim the first singles point, downing Noah Schlagenhauf 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot
- Ole Miss found its first point off a three-set battle on court three, but wins from Enzo Aguiard on court four and Filip Planinsek on court one sealed the victory for Alabama
- Aguaird, ranked 101st in singles, took his opening set at 6-1, before falling 7-5 in a second-set tiebreaker
- The UA junior would battle back in the third set to clinch UA's third point with a 6-1 victory
- Planinsek, ranked 45th, captured the deciding point off a 6-4, 7-6 (7) win at the top of the lineup over No. 50 Nikola Slavic
- The Rebels secured their final point off a victory on court two, but Zach Foster battled back after a first-set loss to secure the last point of the night, which included a tiebreaker in the third set
- Foster dropped the opening round 6-2 to Carson Baker, before rallying for a 6-3, 7-6 (7) result to close the day
