
Eight Alabama Swimmers Punch Ticket to NCAA Championships

The Crimson Tide qualified in four relay events for a combined total of 22 entries prior to the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's swimming team will send eight student-athletes and four relay teams to the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held March 20-23 at the Jack Bauerle Pool at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
The Crimson Tide had seven swimmers qualify for a combined 18 individual entries. Avery Wiseman paced the team, locking her spot in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke in addition to the 200-yard individual medley. Two of the Tide's three freshmen qualifiers secured a spot in a trio of events as Cadence Vincent advanced in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke and Gaby Van Brunt qualified in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke.
Along with Wiseman, Jocelyn Fisher and Diana Petkova were each listed among the nation's top 100-yard breaststrokers as both advanced in the event. Petkova will also swim in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley, while Fisher is set to compete in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Freshman and backstroke specialist Ella Menear secured her spot in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke race as Liberty Williams rounded out the list of individual qualifiers after advancing in both the 500 and 1,650-yard freestyle.
In addition to the seven individual swimmers, UA qualified for the national championships in four relay events. The Tide earned a spot on the national stage in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
Kailyn Winter will join the Crimson Tide as the team's eighth competitor at the NCAA Championships, racing as a relay swimmer. Mackenzie Brandt also secured an alternate position for the 500-yard freestyle.

More Qualifiers
- Once it solidifies its relay lineups, the Crimson Tide will add to its NCAA roster
- Alabama also has the opportunity to add to its NCAA squad early this month with UA divers looking to qualify for nationals at the NCAA Zone B Championships March 9-11 in Athens, Ga.
- The field for the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will be announced on March 13
