Alabama’s Barker, Nye and Cody Earn SEC Postseason Awards

Three Crimson Tide starters collect all-conference honors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three student-athletes from the Alabama women's basketball team earned 2024 Southeastern Conference postseason awards, the league office announced Tuesday. Sarah Ashlee Barker was named First Team All-SEC, Aaliyah Nye honored as Second Team All-SEC and Essence Cody recognized on the All-Freshman Team, giving the Crimson Tide three starters as all-conference performers.
All three collected their first all-conference honors at Alabama, while Cody is the first Tide freshman since the 2017 season to be named as an all-freshman performer. Barker is the 21st Alabama player to receive first-team honors, while Nye is the 20th to earn second-team honors and the second to do so in the past two years (Brittany Davis, 2022).
Sarah Ashlee Barker, First Team
- Collected her 1,000th career-point on Feb. 18 during the Tide's 67-61 win over Auburn
- Named SEC Player of the Week on Feb. 6
- Paced the Tide in scoring all season with 516 points
- Ranks fifth in the SEC in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game
- Earned a career-high of 34 points versus Kentucky on Jan. 28
- Collected 24 double digits scoring games during the season
- Recorded the second-highest rebounds on the team with 192
- Tied her career-high in rebounds (12) and steals (6) against Mississippi State on Feb. 25
- Finished the regular season with a 29-point performance against Texas A&M on March 3
Aaliyah Nye, Second Team
- Earned her 1,000th career-point during Alabama's 81-63 win over Georgia on Jan. 11
- Holds the program record for most three-pointers made in a single season (104)
- Ranks third in the national rankings for three-pointers behind Caitlin Clark of Iowa (162) and Dyaisha Fair of Syracuse (105)
- Averages 14.3 points per game for the Tide
- Leads the conference in three-pointers made in both the regular season (104) and in-conference games (54)
- Recorded a season-high 28 points and eight three-pointers field goals made verses Mississippi State on Feb. 25
Essence Cody, All-Freshman Team
- Four-time SEC Freshman of the Week (11/28, 1/30, 2/27, 3/4)
- Leads the SEC freshman and team in rebounds (6.4 rpg) and blocks (1.9 bpg)
- Contributes an average of 8.1 points per game for Alabama
- Recorded 10 double-figure games for the Crimson Tide
- Scored her career-high 16 points against Georgia on Jan. 11
- Collected another career-high in rebounds versus Gonzaga with 11 on Nov. 25 during the Betty Chancellor Classic in Katy, Texas
