LaCoursiere picked up her first All-SEC honor while Blanco received all-conference recognition for the fourth consecutive year
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two Alabama gymnasts earned Southeastern Conference accolades following last weekend's SEC Championships, the league office announced Wednesday.
Luisa Blanco was named to the All-SEC team for the fourth consecutive year, earning four scores of 9.9-or-higher at the conference championships. The super senior finished in second place in the all-around with a 39.675 and second place on both the uneven bars (9.925) and the balance beam (9.950).
Chloe LaCoursiere was named to both the All-SEC and All-Freshman teams, joining Blanco in second place on the uneven bars with a mirroring 9.925 in her first-ever conference championship meet.
The Crimson Tide finished in second place as a team at the championships with a team total of 197.750. The feat marked the 21st time in the last 25 years that Alabama finished inside the top two as the Tide remains the only school in the SEC to never finish outside the top four at the SEC Championships.
Alabama will continue its season at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional Championships on April 4-6.
