No. 7 Alabama Set to Compete in Evening Session of 2024 SEC Championships

The Crimson Tide will be one of four nationally ranked top-10 teams in the evening session of the conference championship meet
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team will compete in the second session at the 2024 Southeastern Conference Championships Saturday night in Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. Both sessions of the meet will be broadcast live on SEC Network, with the evening session beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
The conference championship meet is divided into two sessions, with the top four teams competing in the evening session while the other four squads square off in the afternoon session. All eight of the league's programs are ranked in the nation's top 20, with all four teams in the Crimson Tide's session ranked inside the top 10. Along with Alabama, the night session includes No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Florida and No. 6 Kentucky, while No. 12 Arkansas, No. 13 Missouri, No. 14 Auburn and No. 18 Georgia will compete in the afternoon session at 2:30 p.m. CT.
The Crimson Tide won the SEC Championship title in 2021 and finished as the runner-up in both 2022 and 2023. UA's roster features four individual SEC champions, with Luisa Blanco (all-around, vault, uneven bars and balance beam), Makarri Doggette (uneven bars) and Shania Adams (uneven bars) all winning event titles at the 2021 contest, while Gabby Gladieux earned a share of the vault title, as a freshman, at the 2023 contest.
Alabama (12-4-1, 3-3-1 SEC) will start out the competition on the floor exercise, rotating to vault and the uneven bars before closing out the night on the balance beam. Top-seeded LSU will start on vault, Florida will start on the balance beam and Kentucky will start on the uneven bars.
Meet Information/Ticket Info
- All-session tickets start at $25 each (plus applicable service fees) and provide admission to both sessions of the conference championship meet
- All fans must be in possession of a mobile ticket on their phone or handheld device for admission to the championship
- Tickets may be purchased online via the SEC Ticket Office
- All ages will need a ticket
- Clear bag policy will be in effect

- The main, linear broadcasts on SEC Network will show every routine of both sessions
- In addition, there will also be individual apparatus streams available on the ESPN app
- These streams, however, will be video only with no commentators

The SEC Championships
- Alabama is the only team in conference history to have never finished outside the top four at the SEC Championships
- The Crimson Tide has finished in the top two at the conference championships 33 times, including each of the past three seasons
- Alabama and Florida are the two most recent SEC champions, with the Tide winning the title in 2021 and the Gators going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023
- Every team in the SEC is ranked in the top 20, nationally, with four teams listed in the top 10
Last Time Out
- The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team closed out the regular season with a 198.025 showing against the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners Sunday in Norman, Okla.
- The Tide posted at least three 9.900-or-higher scores on every event, including four consecutive 9.9+ marks from Luisa Blanco in the all-around
- Alabama's score of 198.025 marked the Tide's third score of 198 in its last four meets
- UA closed the meet against the Sooners with a 49.625 on the balance beam, a season high for the Tide as five consecutive gymnasts hit 9.900 or higher on the apparatus
- Luisa Blanco posted a 9.900-or-higher on all four events as the Dallas, Texas, native rolled to a 39.750 score in the all-around
- Corinne Bunagan and Lilly Judson joined Blanco with podium finishes as Bunagan and Blanco each captured event titles
