Alabama’s Jonathan Griz Named SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week

Griz earned medalist honors with a career-best 13-under par 203 at the Linger Longer
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama men's golfer Jonathan Griz has been named the SEC Men's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Griz earned the recognition after winning medalist honors and leading the Crimson Tide to the team championship at the Linger Longer Invitational.
Griz becomes the second Alabama golfer to earn the accolade this year, joining former standout Nick Dunlap who earned the honor in back-to-back weeks last fall (Sept. 27 and Oct. 4)

- Earned his first career collegiate victory, leading Alabama to the team title at the Linger Longer Invitational for a second consecutive year and a tournament record 40-under par for the event
- Finished with a career-best 13-under par 203 (62-67-74), earning career-best numbers for 18 (62), 36 (129) and 54-hole marks
- His opening round of 10-under 62 was the second-lowest round vs. par in Alabama golf history, bettered only by Nick Dunlap's round of 12-under par 60 last fall
- Led the field in total birdies (18) and finished second in par 3 (2.83, -2) and par 4 (3.83, -8)
- Second consecutive top-10 finish, after a sixth-place result at The Hayt
- Became the third different Alabama golfer to earn medalist honors this season, joining JP Cave (MartinFed Invite) and Nick Dunlap (SEC Match Play)
