It’s the Crimson Tide’s first weekly honor of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama rowing program's Third Varsity Eight+ crew received Boat of the Week honors after its performance in the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite in Oak Ridge, Tenn., the league office announced Wednesday.
The 3V8+ crew was one of five Crimson Tide boats to claim a first-place finish last weekend against Wisconsin and North Carolina, with all three teams receiving votes in the Pocock/CRCA Week 1 poll.
After being scratched from the morning race due to illness, the 3V8+ crew crossed the finish line in 7:15.903, seven seconds ahead of the Badgers and Tar-Heels. For six of the nine crew members, this race marked their first ever collegiate race experience on the water.
This is the first conference weekly honor for the Crimson Tide of the 2024 campaign.
