No. 17 Alabama Drops Road Match to South Carolina

The Crimson Tide move to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in Southeastern Conference play
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 17 Alabama women's tennis team dropped its first match in Southeastern Conference play of the year to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-3, on Friday. Ola Pitak and Klara Milicevic highlighted the Crimson Tide with a doubles win and two singles victories.
Alabama (13-2, 4-1 SEC) fell behind early in doubles play to South Carolina (10-4, 2-3 SEC) after dropping 4-6 on court two. The Crimson Tide fought back on courts one and three, respectively, with both going into tiebreaks to capture the first point of the match. The No. 20 doubles duo of Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser defeated No. 41 Ayana Akli and Sarah Hamner, 7-6 (10-8), while Pitak and Milicevic beat Olympe Lancelot and Misa Malkin, 7-6 (8-6).
The Gamecocks would clinch the match with four singles wins, however, the Tide still earned a pair of victories from Pitak and Milicevic. Pitak defeated Elise Mills in two-sets, 6-1, 7-5, and Milicevic also won in straight-sets after beating Misa Malkin, 7-5, 6-2.
