
Jamison Sears Named SEC Co-Specialist of the Week

Sears’ 9.925 on vault was the highest from a SEC freshman not competing in the all-around and was tied for the second-highest of any SEC non-all-around gymnast
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnast Jamison Sears was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
As only a freshman, Sears stepped up as leadoff in Alabama's vault lineup and posted a career-high 9.925 to begin the quad meet for the Crimson Tide. Her score was the highest from a SEC freshman not competing in the all-around and was tied for the second highest of any SEC non-all-around gymnast. Her performance garnered a podium finish inside Coleman Coliseum, as the only gymnast who scored higher was teammate Luisa Blanco who posted a 10.000. Sears and the Crimson Tide went on to post a season-high rotation score of 49.500 en route to Alabama's second 198 team score within the last three weeks.
The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics program travels to Norman, Okla., Sunday night for a 3 p.m. CT contest with the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. The top-10 matchup will be aired on ESPN2.
