Cody earns her third SEC Freshman of the Week honor this season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball forward Essence Cody has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.
Cody played a huge role in Alabama's 87-75 victory over Mississippi State on Sunday with a 15-point, seven rebound and three block performance. The Valdosta, Ga., native shot 53.8 percent from the field (7-13) and 50 percent from the free throw line (1-2).
- Recorded her 10th double-digit game of the season on Feb. 25
- Shot 53.8 percent from the field (7-13) and 50 percent from the charity stripe (1-2)
- Has started every game for Alabama and leads the team in rebounds (6.4 rpg) and blocks (1.9 bpg)
- Cody ranks fourth in the SEC in blocks (56) and 30th in the country
