
Shania Adams Named SEC Specialist of the Week

The senior gymnast registered back-to-back season-high scores of 9.950 to help the Crimson Tide earn its third-highest team score in program history (198.075) in the win over No. 18 Georgia
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnast Shania Adams was named the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Adams posted consecutive scores of 9.950 on the uneven bars and the balance beam to help propel the Crimson Tide to its third-highest team score in program history (198.0785) in the win over No. 18 Georgia. Her performance on uneven bars earned her a share of the event title as Adams' performance catapulted Alabama to a season-high-tying event score at 49.600, while her 9.950 on beam secured her sole possession of first place in the event as the Tide recorded its second-highest rotation score of the season at 49.400.
The No. 9 Alabama gymnastics program travels to Baton Rouge, La., Friday night for a 5 p.m. CT contest with the No. 2 LSU Tigers. The top-10 matchup will be aired, nationally, on ESPN2.
