No. 35 Alabama Defeats No. 42 Arizona 4-3 on Opening Day of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic

The Crimson Tide collected a 4-3 victory over No. 42 Arizona on day one and is leading No. 24 Illinois in the semifinals
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team battled against No. 42 Arizona during a 4-3 victory in round one of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic. The Crimson Tide (7-1) also won its doubles point against No. 24 Illinois in round two of the tournament Friday night.
In the first round, No. 35 Alabama secured the doubles point with wins from No. 37 Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser on court one and from Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko on court two. The Tide went on to win three singles matches, including No. 79 Petra Sedlackova's three set victory (2-6, 7-6(4), 6-3) which secured the deciding point for Alabama.
The Tide clinched the doubles point against No. 24 Illinois in round two of the tournament with wins from No. 37 Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser on court one and Ola Pitak and Klara Milicevic on court three.
