No. 21 Alabama Falls, 4-0, to No. 10 Columbia at ITA National Indoor Championships

NEW YORK –– The No. 21 Alabama men's tennis team (7-4) concluded its second match at the ITA National Indoor Championships, falling 4-0 to host school and No. 10 Columbia (7-2) on Saturday at the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
UA saw two doubles courts go into a tiebreaker, but Columbia found wins on courts one and three, respectively to clinch the opening point. In singles action, the Lions tallied wins on courts six, five and four, respectively, to secure the overall victory.
Match Notes
- No. 45-ranked Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh were tied at 5-5 in a seven-point tiebreaker with No. 24 Nicolas Kotzen and Max Westphal on court two when the doubles point was clinched
- Matic Dimic and Roan Jones also forced a tiebreak in their doubles match, but fell 7-4 as Alex Kotzen and Sachin Palta secured the opening point on court three
- Planinsek and Zimnokh highlighted the Tide in singles action, but would conclude the day with their respective matches going unfinished
- After dropping the opening set, 6-2, No. 53 Planinsek fought his way back to claim the second set at 6-3 against No. 15 Michael Zheng
- The battle on court one would conclude with Planinsek trailing 2-1 in the third set
- Zimnokh was leading Westphal on court five after recording a 7-5 victory in the opening set tiebreaker
- The two athletes were tied at 3-3 when the match concluded
- Additionally, No. 74 Enzo Aguiard was trailing No. 101 Alex Kotzen 6-3, 4-3 on court two
