TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's track and field program is projected to finish second nationally at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the latest FloTrack Rankings.
Jumping to second, nationally, the UA men were propelled by major performances last weekend, led by Ruben Banks' NCAA-leading mark in the men's weight throw (23.88m | 78-4.25). The 4x400-meter-relay squad also made noise as the group clocked 3:03.28 to capture the fourth-fastest time in the nation this season.
Per FloTrack rankings, Banks joins sprinter teammates Tarsis Orogot (200m) and Khaleb McRae (400m) as the top-ranked athletes in their respective events. McRae's 45.13 run in the 400m paces the country for the second consecutive week while the 2023 NCAA 200-meter runner up, Orogot, holds a 20.41 in the 200m – good for the second-fastest time in the NCAA.
The Crimson Tide men are currently projected for 35 points at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, only nine points behind No. 1 Arkansas.
On the women's side, Alabama comes in at No. 6 in the current FloTrack Rankings.
