
Doris Lemngole Named National Athlete of the Week after Breaking NCAA Record

The national honor is the fourth of Lemngole’s career and comes after the Crimson Tide sophomore opened her 2024-25 indoor track & field season by knocking 0.22 seconds off the previous 5,000-meter record
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track and field star Doris Lemngole was named the National Athlete of the Week, the USTFCCCA announced Monday, after Lemngole broke the women's 5,000-meter NCAA record during her 2024-25 indoor season debut.
The standout sophomore knocked 0.22 seconds off the previous national time, en route to the victory, when she crossed the line in 14:52.57.
The announcement marks the second time in five weeks (Nov. 4, cross country) – and third time during the 2024 calendar year – that Lemngole has been named the National Athlete of the Week.

- Clocked a blistering 14:52.57 in her 2024-25 indoor track & field season debut, effectively knocking 0.22 seconds off the previous national mark

- The announcement marks her second national weekly honor in five weeks and her third during the 2024 calendar year
