Doris Lemngole Selected as Finalist for Honda Sport Award for Cross Country

Days after being named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Year, the standout sophomore was announced as a finalist for the national cross country runner of the year award, sponsored by Honda
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mere days after being named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Year, Alabama cross country phenom Doris Lemngole was selected as a finalist for the Class of 2025 Honda Sport Award for Cross Country, announced Wednesday by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CSWA).
With the announcement, the Crimson Tide has now had runners selected for the Honda Sport Award six times over the last five years with Lemngole being chosen as a finalist for the second year in a row.
Two-time finalist Mercy Chelangat became the program's first Honda Sport Award winner for cross country during the 2020-21 season.

- The finalists were selected from the top four finishes at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships
- The Honda Sport award winner for cross country will be announced the week of Dec. 9 after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools
- The CWSA, celebrating its 49th year, has honored the nation's top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service
- The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2025 Honda Cup, which will be presented during the live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards, presented by Honda, on CBS Sports Network in June
