Jones Readies for NCAA Singles Championships

Roan Jones will face Carl Emil Overbeck in the opening Round of 64 on Tuesday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Roan Jones will begin his quest for a national title this week when he opens the NCAA Singles Championships Tuesday against fourth-seeded Carl Emil Overbeck from California.
The singles tournament will be held Nov. 19-24 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Jones will make his first appearance at the national event. He solidified his spot at the NCAA Singles Championships after winning the ITA South Sectional title last week (Nov. 10).
Alabama in the NCAA Singles Tournament
- Jones will make his first appearance at the NCAA individual championships, earning a berth after his title-clinching run at the ITA South Sectional Championships
- It marks the 42nd time UA has qualified an athlete in the NCAA singles tournament
- Under head coach George Husack, Alabama has notched a spot 17 times at either the NCAA Singles or Doubles Championships, and has qualified in at least one individual competition in 10 out of 12 championships (there was no NCAA Tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
