
Oussama El Bouchayby Named SEC Men’s Runner of the Week

El Bouchayby earned the honor after his historic performance in the 600-meter run at the Bob Pollock Invitational
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the first time this season, Alabama men's track and field runner Oussama El Bouchayby was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hailing from Marrakech, Morocco, El Bouchayby clocked a 1:14.88 in the men's 600m at the Bob Pollock Invitational, effectively breaking Alabama's indoor school record. His performance ranks as the second-fastest time in NCAA Track and Field collegiate history, in addition to being the fifth-fastest time in world history.
The Alabama track and field program travels west for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, Feb, 2-3. In the most recent USTFCCCA rankings, the UA men's squad is ranked 13th, with the women's side sitting at 14th.
