Luisa Blanco Earns Second SEC Gymnast of the Week Honor of Season

For the second time this season, the super senior recorded the highest all-around score of the week by any SEC gymnast (39.700), helping lead the Crimson Tide to its 197.575-197.425 victory over then-No. 8 Florida
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second time this season, Alabama gymnast Luisa Blanco was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Blanco recorded three consecutive scores of 9.925-or-higher (vault, uneven bars, balance beam) in the Crimson Tide's road win against No. 8 Florida. The super senior claimed a pair of event titles at Exactech Arena (UB – 9.925; BB – 9.950), and also earned the highest all-around score (39.700) to lead the SEC for the second time this season. As Alabama's anchor on the balance beam, Blanco calmly posted a meet-clinching, season-high 9.95 to push the Crimson Tide to yet another season-high team score, 197.575, handing Florida its first loss at home since 2019 ending a streak that lasted for 20 consecutive meets.
The No. 6 Alabama gymnastics program welcomes the No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats in Coleman Coliseum Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. The fourth top-10 matchup in as many weeks for the Tide will be broadcast live on SEC Network.
