
Alabama Collects Six First Place Finishes During First Day of Bob Pollock Invitational

The Crimson Tide will compete in 18 different events on Saturday to close the weekend meet
CLEMSON, S.C. – On the opening day of the Bob Pollock Invitational, Alabama track and field swept the mile and the weight throw event behind first-place finishes from Hilda Olemomoi, Hillary Cheruiyot, Chandler Hayden and Ruben Banks.
Hayden took home Alabama's first event win of the day after launching a 22.33-meter (73-3.25) mark in the women's weight throw, giving her the second-best mark on the women's all-time top-10 in program history. That marks the second consecutive week Hayden finished first in her event.
Banks followed shortly thereafter with a win of his own in the men's weight throw after recording a 23.09-meter (75-9.25) throw on his third attempt, giving him the second-best throw in the men's all-time top-ten in program history. It is also the second straight week Banks has placed first in the weight throw.
On the track, Olemomoi would give the Crimson Tide the victory in the women's mile invitational with a time of 4:40.08, good enough for eighth all-time on the top-ten list in program history. The women's distance medley team would follow her performance up with a first-place finish of its own with a time of 11:21.84.
For the men, Cheruiyot would give UA another tally in the win column with a first-place finish in the men's mile, with a time of 4:02.73. Khaleb McRae would close out the first day for the Tide with a first-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash in 46.06.
CRIMSON TIDE TOP FINISHES
- Chandler Hayden (first | 22.33m | 73-3.25) and Mye'Joi Williams (fourth | 18.98m | 62-3.25) gave the Tide a pair of top-five finishes with their performances in the women's weight throw
- Hayden's mark moves her into second on the all-time top-10 list in program history

- Victoria Faber (4.00m | 13-1.50) gave the Tide its first top-five performance of the day with a fifth-place finish in the women's pole vault invitational
- Miracle Ailes (seventh | 5.96m | 19-6.75) and Caelyn Harris (eighth | 5.94m | 19-6) added a pair of top-10 finishes to Alabama's total with their marks in the women's long jump
- Ailes mark moves her into 10th on the all-time top-10 list in program history
- Harris' 5.94m sets a new personal-best with her mark
- On the track, Hilda Olemomoi (first | 4:40.28), McKenzie Hogue (fourth | 4:50.33), Lilly Walters (fifth | 4:50.74) and Macy Schelp (ninth | 4:52.00) gave UA a quad of top-10 finishes in the women's mile
- Olemomoi's time moves her into eighth on the all-time top-10 list in program history
- With her time, Schelp set a new personal-best
- In the mile, Alabama's Hillary Cheruiyot (first | 4:02.73) and Victor Kiprop (third | 4:04.40) gave the Tide a pair of top-five finishes with their performances in the men's mile invitational

- Milan Fields (fifth | 7.38) added another top-five finish in the women's 60-meter dash
- Josh Thomas (6.79) added a top-10 finish to the Tide's total with a sixth-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash
- The duo of Carter Waters (ninth | 4:13.26) and Ethan Lemons (tenth | 4:13.37) gave Alabama a pair of top-10 finishes in the men's mile
- Khaleb McRae (first | 46.06) and Hasani Barr (third | 46.62) gave the Tide another pair of top-five finishes in the men's 400-meter
- Alexis Rickenbacher (sixth | 3.65m | 11-11.75) and Tristan Barr (seventh | 3.50m | 11-5.75) gave UA a pair of top-ten performances in the women's pole vault
- In the women's distance medley relay, Alabama placed first with a time of 11:21.84
- That time moves the squad into sixth on the all-time top-10 list in program history
- In the men's distance medley relay, two squads (10:01.59, 10:11.48) would give the Tide a pair of top-five finishes
