The Crimson Tide was edged in a 4-3 loss to No. 20 Florida State, before taking a dominant 7-0 victory against Jacksonville State in UA’s home opening weekend
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– In a match that came down to the final court, the Alabama men's tennis team fell 4-3 to the No. 20 Florida State Seminoles (3-1) on Sunday, before rallying to take a 7-0 sweep against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (1-2).
The UA doubles team of Matic Dimic and Roan Jones went undefeated during the day after posting a 6-4 victory against both Florida State and Jacksonville State. In singles, Enzo Aguiard, Andrii Zimnokh and Jones secured a pair of wins for the Tide as all three won their matchup against both teams.
From Head Coach George Husack
"A challenging and growing day for our team this afternoon. We competed well throughout and were noticeably better than last weekend. Great to have Zach (Foster) back in the singles lineup as he's had to endure a lot since his injury last September. Roan and Andrii continue to do their thing and we've made gains in doubles as well. The guys responded very well against a feisty Gamecock squad. I'm confident in their willingness to improve as our season marches forward."
