Past and present Crimson Tide student-athletes set to represent their home country at the 2023 World Athletics Championships (Aug. 19-27)
BUDAPEST, Hungary – The Alabama track and field program will have eight past and present student-athletes, in a total of 11 events, participating at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
Crimson Tide Results at 2023 World Athletics Championships
Friday, Aug. 25
- Tamara Clark (United States) and her 4x100-meter relay contingent advanced to the event final after recording the fastest time of the entire preliminary round (41.59). Clark ran the third leg for the U.S., clocking 10.60.
- The women's 4x100-meter relay event final will take place Saturday, Aug. 26, at 2:53Â p.m. CT
Thursday, Aug. 24
- Olivia Fotopoulou (Cyprus) ran 22.73 in the women's 200-meter semifinal, after first recording a new PB in the event's opening, preliminary round
- Tarsis Orogot (Uganda) clocked 20.26 in the men's 200-meter semifinal, finishing only 0.05 seconds short of earning a qualifying spot in the event final
- Kirani James (Grenada)Â initially finished the men's 400-meter final in fifth place before ultimately being disqualified for lane infringement
Wednesday, Aug. 23
-  Tarsis Orogot (Uganda) clocked 20.44 in the men's 200-meter opening round to successfully advance to the event's semifinal
- The men's 200-meter semifinal will take place Thursday, Aug. 24, at 1:20 p.m. CT
- Olivia Fotopoulou (Cyprus) successfully advanced to Thursday's semifinal of the women's 200 meters
Tuesday, Aug. 22
- Shelby McEwen (United States) finished seventh in the men's high jump event final, recording a season-best mark of 2.29 meters (7-6)
- Kirani James (Grenada) clocked 44.58 in the second heat of the men's 400-meter semifinal, successfully earning an automatic-qualifying spot in Thursday's event final
- Jereem Richards (Trinidad and Tobago) finished fourth (44.76) in the first heat of the men's 400-meter semifinal, just outside the top two qualifying spots
Sunday, Aug. 20
- Kirani James (Grenada) clocked a heat-winning time in the men's 400-meter prelims (44.91)Â to successfully move himself into the event semifinal
- Jereem Richards (Trinidad and Tobago) finished third in his 400-meter preliminary heat (45.15) to also advance to the event semifinal
- The men's 400-meter event semifinal will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. CT
- Olivia Fotopoulou (Cyprus) finished with an 11.38 time in the women's 100-meter preliminary round, taking 34th place
- Shelby McEwen (United States) recorded a season-best, 2.28-meter mark (7-5.75) to advance to the men's high jump event final
- The men's high jump event final will take place Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10:58 a.m. CT
- Daniel Haugh (United States) finished sixth in the men's hammer throw event final, recording a season-best, 78.64-meter throw (258-0) on his fourth attempt
Saturday, Aug. 19
- Daniel Haugh (United States) recorded a 76.64-meter throw (251-5) on his third and final attempt to successfully move himself into the event final
- The men's hammer throw event final will take place on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 12:49 p.m. CT
- Quanesha Burks (United States) recorded a 6.57-meter jump in the women's long jump qualifying round to finish 16th
