107 Alabama Student-Athletes Earn SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll Recognition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a strong athletic year that saw Alabama finish 12th in the Directors' Cup, the University of Alabama had an impressive 107 student-athletes earn a place on the 2023 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Friday.
For the second consecutive year, Alabama posted 107 student-athletes on the first-year academic list. This year also marked the third time in four years that UA had over 100 student-athletes earn the honor in their first year of competing for the Tide.
The Crimson Tide ranked in the top two among SEC schools for honorees from women's basketball (5), men's (5) and women's (5) cross country, football (16), gymnastics (6) and rowing (17). UA was also one of just five conference schools to eclipse 100 accolades.
The 2023 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2022-23 academic year. To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA championship segment.
In addition to those on the first-year list, the Crimson Tide had 85, 55 and 131 students-athletes named to the SEC Fall, Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls, respectively, giving Alabama a total of 378 for the 2022-23 academic year.
