Benedetta Moresco continues to lead the Crimson Tide in 12th place overall
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Alabama women's golf team carded a second round score of 15-over par 303 Tuesday and is in 10th overall after 36 holes of play at the 2023 NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Women's Golf Regional. The Crimson Tide will enter Wednesday's final round of play with a team total of 26-over par 602 (299-303), 11 strokes back of fifth place.
Benedetta Moresco continues to lead the way for Alabama as she will enter Wednesday's final round of stroke play in a tie for 12th overall with a 3-over par 147 (73-74).
The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each of the six regional sites will advance on to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships hosted by Arizona State University in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the Grayhawk Golf Club, from May 19-24.
The third and final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which is being held on the par 72, 6,102-yard PGA National Resort Champions Course, can be followed live throughout on Golfstat.com.
Individual Highlights
- After opening her round with a birdie on the par 5 No. 10 hole, Benedetta Moresco collected three bogeys and 14 pars the rest of the way to result in her score of 2-over par 74
- Moresco leads the Tide and ranks among the individual leaders in par 4 (+3, 4.15) scoring across the two rounds of play
- Sarah Edwards is second on the team with a two-day total of 5-over 149 (74-75) to place her in a tie for 26th
- Emilie Øverås is one shot behind at 6-over 150 (75-75) with her second straight round of 3-over par
- Taylor Kehoe, who leads the team and ranks in a tie for third on par 5 scoring (-3, 4.63), is in 51st with a 156 (77-79)
- Kynadie Adams, who replaced Isabella van der Biest in the team's lineup for Tuesday, rounded out the Crimson Tide golfers with an 89
Team Highlights
- No. 34 Michigan State (+5), the No. 6 seed in the 12-team regional, continues to hold the overall lead, taking a three-stroke lead over No. 15 Northwestern (+8)
- Northwestern, the No. 3 seed, carded the round of the day with its 4-under par 284 on Tuesday
- South Florida (+12), the No. 10 seed, and No. 28 Duke (+12) are in a tie for third overall with No. 10 Texas (+13) rounding out the top-five teams entering the last 18 holes of play
- With this year's selection, the Crimson Tide made its 17th consecutive regional appearance under head coach Mic Potter and its 24th appearance in the event overall
- The Crimson Tide has advanced to nationals 15 times under head coach Mic Potter and brought home the national championship title once in 2012
