The Crimson Tide will turn its sight toward the SEC Championships (April 19-23) in Auburn, Ala.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In its final regular-season match of the 2023 campaign, the Alabama men's tennis program defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks, 6-1, Friday evening at the Billingsley Tennis Center.

The Crimson Tide (11-14, 3-9 SEC) opened play by securing the doubles point over the Razorbacks (12-13, 0-12 SEC) via consecutive 6-3 performances on courts three and two. Joao Ferreira and Yair Sarouk were the first Alabama duo to finish before Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster clinched the opening point for the Tide. Filip Planinsek and German Samofalov were also leading, 5-3, on court one when doubles play ended.

Alabama took the first two singles courts via Foster on court five (7-6 (4), 6-0) and No. 75 Planinsek on court one (7-5, 4-6, 6-2), respectively, before Arkansas won its first point of the match on court six. It would be the only court won by the Razorbacks as the Tide picked up the remaining three wins via Matias Ponce De Leon on court three (4-6, 6-1, 6-4), No. 113 Aguiard on court two (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and Roan Jones on court four (4-6, 7-6 (6), 1-0 (7)).

"A much closer match than the final score indicates. Arkansas stood their ground from start to finish which forced us to problem-solve and stay persistent. In the end, we responded to the challenge and had great resolve."
