School Records Fall, Medal Count Grows for Alabama on Final Day of SEC Track and Field Indoor Championships

The Crimson Tide’s men finished third in the team standings, while the women tied for fourth, overall
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Alabama track and field teams saw two school records fall en route to five podium finishes on the final day of the SEC Track and Field Indoor Championships.
Flomena Asekol opened the day with a third-place showing in the women's mile, clocking 4:35.60 for the Crimson Tide. In the men's 200-meter final, Tarsis Orogot secured Alabama its second consecutive bronze medal after finishing at 20.45, before Hilda Olemomoi finished second in the women's 3,000-meter final (9:12.09). Triple jumper Christian Edwards' school record-breaking performance (16.86m | 55-3.75) earned him a silver medal to add to Alabama's medal tally. The Crimson Tide concluded the conference meet by setting a school record, and facility record, in the men's 4x400-meter relay (Chris Robinson, Tarsis Orogot, Demetrius Jackson, Khaleb McRae) to claim UA's fifth gold medal of the weekend.
Alabama finished in the top five of both respective team standings, with the men claiming third and the women ending tied for fourth.

Coming home with five individual SEC championships and a meet record in the men's 4x400-meter relay highlights the kind of weekend we had. We're looking forward to taking this momentum into the NCAA Championships in two weeks in Albuquerque."
Crimson Tide Top Finishes
- Asekol (4:35.60) and Jami Reed (4:40.09) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the women's mile
- Chris Robinson clocked 45.55 in the men's 400-meter final. His fifth-place finish became a new personal best and is also the second-fastest time in UA history.
- Orogot won the Tide its second bronze medal of the day after finishing 20.45 in the men's 200-meter final
- Chelsea Igberaese (16.98m | 55-8.50) and Cherisse Murray (16.95m | 55-7.50) recorded fifth-and-sixth-place finishes in the women's shot put. Igberaese now sits at No. 4 all-time with Murray holding the fifth-best mark in program history.
- Olemomoi earned silver in the women's 3,000-meter final (9:12.09)
- Edwards broke Alabama's school record in the men's triple jump (16.86m | 55-3.75) en route to a second-place finish
- Alabama's women's 4x400-meter relay squad (Na'Taja Ballard, Amari Brown, Amara Obi and Chanice Spicer) clocked 3:36.40 to finish fourth in the event. The group now holds the 10th-fastest run in school history.
- Robinson, Orogot, Jackson and McRae secured the Tide its fifth gold medal of the two-day meet after recording a 3:01.78 performance in the men's 4x400-meter relay. The time set a new facility record and broke Alabama's previous school record.
