Jamison Sears and Chloe LaCoursiere will compete in the prestigious event
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jamison Sears and and Chloe LaCoursiere, both Crimson Tide 2023 signees, are set to compete in the 2023 Nastia Liukin Cup this Friday, Jan. 24. The contest will be held in Louisville, Ky., and will get underway at 6 p.m. CT.
The Nastia Liukin Cup, founded in 2010 by 2008 Olympic champion Nastia Liukin, features qualifiers from around the country who are chosen to participate in the event following their performances at a series of invitationals known as the Nastia Liukin Cup Series. A total of 40 athletes, 20 juniors and 20 seniors, have qualified for the meet. Sears and LaCoursiere will both be competing in the senior category.
Sears, a three-time qualifier to the event, will be attempting to defend her 2022 title. The Yorktown, Va., native won the all-around last year with a 38.950, also taking home the event title on the balance beam. LaCoursiere has also competed in the event before, finishing runner-up on the uneven bars in 2021.
This year's event is being held in conjunction with the 2023 Winter Cup and Elite Team Cup. The meet will be streamed live on USA Gymnastics' YouTube channel beginning Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
