
Victor Kiprop Named USTFCCCA South Region Men’s Athlete of the Year

The Crimson Tide distance runner was the highest-finishing male athlete from the South Region at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Following his top-20 finish at last weekend's NCAA Cross Country Championships, Alabama distance runner Victor Kiprop was named the South Region Men's Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Kiprop was the highest-finishing male athlete from the South Region at the national meet.
Kiprop's 2023 Campaign
- Qualified individually to the NCAA Cross Country Championships and clocked the fastest time by a male athlete from the South Region (10K | 29:31.5)
- Defended his Southeastern Conference individual title
- Finished as the South Region's runner-up at the Regional Championships
- Only three seconds behind teammate Hillary Cheruiyot
- First Team All-SEC honors
- USTFCCCA All-America and All-South Region accolades
- Named the SEC's Men's Runner of the Year for the second consecutive season
