TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After a standout showing at Clemson, Alabama's track and field programs have both landed in the top 10 of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Week two rankings, with the women's side remaining at No. 4 and the men's team coming in at No. 10.
Alabama's women picked up two new or improved national top-10 marks over the weekend to maintain its top-four spot: Flomena Asekol is now ranked No. 10 in the 800 meters (2:04.42), while Chelsea Igberaese moves up to No. 4 in the weight throw (23.56m/77-3¾) after her school-and-facility record-breaking performance.
After entering the weekend unranked, the men's program soared into the top-10 behind efforts from the 4x400 relay squad who clocked the nation's fastest time in the event at 3:03.99. Khaleb McRae, Chris Robinson and Leander Forbes, all members of the 4x4, also clocked top-16Â times in the men's 400m race, while Tarsis Orogot (men's 200m, 10th) and Christian Edwards (triple jump, 9th) both hold a top-ÂÂ10 mark in their respective event.
Alabama joins Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee as the only Southeastern Conference schools to feature both its programs inside the top 10.
