The Crimson Tide point guard hit the game-winning three-pointer with eight seconds on the clock
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alabama women's basketball guard Hannah Barber drained a three pointer with eight seconds left in regulation to give Crimson Tide a 69-66 win over No. RV/24 Arkansas in Bud Walton Arena Thursday night.
The Crimson Tide and Razorbacks had five ties and eight lead changes in the second half alone as the two teams battled until the end. Arkansas tied the game off a three-pointer with 33 seconds on the clock, but a pass from Loyal McQueen back to Barber gave UA the winning basket.
Alabama (16-5, 5-3 SEC) was led by Brittany Davis, who tallied her eighth 20-plus point game this season with 22 points and four boards on the night. Jada Rice tied a season-high 12 points, while recording seven boards and two blocks. Barber added four steals to her eight-point game.
Arkansas (17-6, 4-4) was paced by Erynn Barnum, who captured 20 points, nine boards and two steals. Makayla Daniels had 13 points and six rebounds, while both Saylor Poffenbarger and Samara Spencer had 12 points in the loss.
Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"Just a big win. It's a huge road win against a really great team. The response to Monday night was incredible, and just their preparation, their toughness, their character, just gritty. All night long, we just sustain runs. They shot a lot more free throws. It just seemed like our backs were against the wall and they just continue to fight and stay together. All nine kids, and Meg (Abrams), just tremendous energy and all areas and everybody made so many plays and just did the little things that can make a big difference for you to win on the road and stay together. So couldn't be proud of a bunch of people. They just continued to step up when it's hard and the harder it gets the harder they go."
