Sunday’s victories keep the Crimson Tide undefeated through four matches

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis program (4-0) picked up its second doubleheader sweep to open the 2023 campaign after beating both UAB and Chattanooga Sunday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide opened the day with a victory over the UAB Blazers (0-1). Alabama claimed the doubles point after Joao Ferreira and Zach Foster (6-0) won on court three, followed by a point-clinching decision on court one by Enzo Aguiard and Yair Sarouk (7-5). The Tide would go on to win four singles matches to secure the victory.

Alabama closed the doubleheader with a sweep over Chattanooga (0-1). Ferreira and Foster (6-2) won on court three, before Aguiard and Filip Planinsek secured the doubles point via a 6-3 decision on court one. The Tide would proceed to sweep all six singles matches to claim its second 7-0 victory of the season.

Alabama jumped out to an early lead, winning a pair of doubles matches on courts three and one, respectively
Enzo Aguiard and Yair Sarouk clinched the doubles point for the Crimson Tide on court one, 7-5
German Samofalov moved Alabama in front, 2-0, with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Carlos Gimenez Perez on court five
UAB won its first point of the day on court two before Matias Ponce de Leon went 6-2, 7-6 (3) on court three to give Alabama a 3-1 advantage
Roan Jones won on court four (7-5, 6-2) before Filip Planinsek secured the Tide its fifth point of the day with a three-set win (4-6, 7-5, 10-6) at the top of the lineup

Match vs. Chattanooga

Alabama once again claimed the doubles point after duo Joao Ferreira and Zach Foster (6-2) and doubles pair Enzo Aguiard and Filip Planinsek (6-3) found success on courts three and one, respectively
Aguiard went 6-3, 6-1 on court two to capture the Tide's first singles point
Roan Jones pushed Alabama out to a 3-0 lead after winning 6-2, 6-1 on court three
Alabama's Yair Sarouk went 7-5, 6-0 to claim another singles point with a win at No. 6
Matias Ponce de Leon (6-0, 2-6, 6-3) and Planinsek (6-2, 5-7, 10-3) both prevailed in three-set matches on courts four and one, giving the Tide a 6-0 advantage
German Samofalov's three-set victory (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) at No. 5 secured Alabama the sweep over Chattanooga
