
Alabama Gymnasts Once Again Total Double-Digit WCGA Scholastic All-America Honors

The Crimson Tide posted a 3.58 team grade point average in 2021-22, marking the 17th year in a row Alabama has posted a 3.4 or better GPA
ITHACA, N.Y. – Alabama gymnastics was named a 2022 Scholastic All-America team and saw 13 gymnasts earn individual Scholastic All-America honors, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) revealed Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide, which finished seventh in the nation last season and second in the Southeastern Conference, earned a 3.58 team grade point average, marking the 17th year in a row that Crimson Tide gymnastics has posted a team GPA of 3.4 or better.
The Tide's 2022 Scholastic All-Americans included NCAA Champions and All-Americans Lexi Graber and Luisa Blanco and two-time Olympian and All-American Shallon Olsen as well as Jordyn Paradise, Lilly Hudson, Mati Waligora, Isabella Martin, Kaylee Quinn, Griffin James, Ella Burgess, Cameron Machado, Corinne Bunagan and Emily Gaskins.
With its 13 Scholastic All-Americans in 2022, Alabama has now posted double digit honors the last 12 years in a row and 16 times since 1999. Overall, 119 Tide gymnasts have earned Scholastic All-America recognition 317 times since the award's inception in 1991.
To be a Scholastic All-American, a gymnast must have a 3.5 or better GPA either for the previous academic year or for their career. The team GPA and the individual awards factor in any gymnast on the Tide's eligibility roster as of January 1 of the season, including medical redshirts. A total of 66 Tide gymnasts have earned 156 Scholastic All-America honors over the last decade.
