Alabama Track and Field Alum Earns Top-10 Finish in the Hammer at the World Championships

Daniel Haugh took eighth place for Team USA in the men’s hammer throw with a toss 78.10 meters
EUGENE, Ore. – Alabama track and field alumni Daniel Haugh posted top-10 finish in the men's hammer throw on day two of the World Championships being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Haugh (USA) posted a toss of 78.10 meters on his second of six throws to take eighth place. All four of his legal throws went over 76 meters on the day.
Alabama Results at the World Championships
- Daniel Haugh (USA) finished second in the prelims of the men's hammer throw with a toss of 79.34 meters, advancing him to finals, before taking eighth in finals with a toss of 78.10 meters
- Shelby McEwen (USA) tied for ninth in the prelims of the men's high jump with a leap of 2.28 meters, advancing to the finals
- Portious Warren (Trinidad and Tobago) took 25th in the women's shot put with a best toss of 16.65 meters
Crimson Tide Action on Day Three (Sunday)
- Champion Allison (USA) will run in heat four, and Kirani James (Ghana) will run in heat five of the men's 400 meters starting at 11 a.m. PT
- Natassha McDonald (Canada) competes in heat six of the women's 400 meters prelims, which start at 12 p.m. PT
