Alabama Track and Field Alums Open World Championships with a Trio of Top-25 Finishes

Daniel Haugh, Shelby McEwen and Portious Warren all finish in the top-25 of their respective events on the first day of the World Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – A trio of Alabama track and field alums posted top-25 finishes on day one of the World Championships being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Daniel Haugh (USA) and Shelby McEwen (USA) advanced to the finals of the men's hammer throw and men's high jump, respectively, while Portious Warren (Trinidad and Tobago) finished in the top-25 of the women's shot put.
Alabama Results at the World Championships
- Daniel Haugh (USA) finished second in the prelims of the men's hammer throw with a toss of 79.34 meters, advancing him to finals
- Shelby McEwen (USA) tied for ninth in the prelims of the men's high jump with a leap of 2.28 meters, advancing to the finals
- Portious Warren (Trinidad and Tobago) took 25th in the women's shot put with a best toss of 16.65 meters
Crimson Tide Action on Day Two (Saturday)
- Daniel Haugh (USA) competes in the final of the men's hammer throw, where he's the second seed, starting at 12 p.m. PT
