The recent Crimson Tide graduate earned the honor for the second year in a row and was one of just two Southeastern Conference student-athletes to earn a place on the first team
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimming and diving's Morgan Liberto earned a place on the CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large First Team, the College Sports Information Directors Association announced Wednesday.
This year's honor marks Liberto's second-consecutive appearance on the at-large team. The All-American graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in public administration in May through Alabama's Accelerated Master's Program, maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both courses of study.
Unlike the other Academic All-America teams which represent a single sport, the at-large program spans several women's sports, including beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, field hockey, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
Liberto joined fellow swimmers Derek Maas and Nicholas Perera, who were named to the men's at-large first team for the second year in a row on Tuesday. Maas, an All-American, SEC Champion and SEC record holder, graduated with a 4.0 grade point average in biology on the premed track and is currently pursuing an MBA. Perera, an All-American, graduated in May with a 4.0 GPA in mechanical engineering.
