The Crimson Tide fell 5-2 to Arkansas but rebounded for a 6-1 victory over Tennessee Tech

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team split its fifth double header of the season on Sunday, opening the day with a 5-2 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks before rallying for a 6-1 win over Tennessee Tech.

The UA doubles team of Filip Planinsek and Patrick Kaukovalta went undefeated, capturing a pair of wins at the No. 1 doubles spot against Arkansas and Tennessee Tech. In singles, German Samofalov led the Tide with straight set victories in both matches, as Planinsek, Kaukovalta, Joao Ferreira and Zach Foster also secured a win during the day's events.

The Match Against The Razorbacks

Planinsek and Kaukovalta took a 7-5 victory for Alabama (7-16, 0-8 SEC) at No. 1 doubles against Nico Rousset and Alex Reco to even the battle for the doubles point after the Razorbacks (11-11, 2-7 SEC) went 6-3 at the No. 3 spot
Arkansas gained the upper hand, however, taking a win at No. 2 doubles with a 7-5 victory for the paired point
As the match moved into singles play, Arkansas found back-to-back wins on courts three and five
Samofalov gave the Tide its first point at No. 4 singles, downing Adrien Burdet 6-4, 6-4, however, a win at No. 6 singles would decide the match and give the Razorbacks the win
Planinsek would clinch the second point for UA on court one, taking the win in a three-set battle that saw a tiebreaker on the opening two sets
112^th ranked Planinsek won 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 1-0 (7) over 107^th ranked Alex Reco, but Arkansas won the final match on court two to conclude the contest

The Match Against the Golden Eagles

Ferreira and Samofalov were the first to clinch a win against Tennessee Tech (3-10), topping Evzen Holis and Rafael Tosetto 6-1 at No. 2 doubles
Kaukovalta and Planinsek followed moments later with a 6-4 win against Mika Berghaus and Elias Grubert on court one
With the doubles point and a walkover win on court six, Alabama headed into singles play with a 2-0 advantage
Kaukovalta pulled down the first doubles point with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Elias Grubert on court one
Samofalov captured the deciding point for Alabama with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Mika Berghaus on court two
Tennessee Tech recorded a win on court four but Alabama took courts three and five to round out the day
Ferreira defeated Evzen Holis 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 singles, while Foster defeated Jun Sasagawa 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles

Alabama welcomes a pair of Top-10 Southeastern Conference opponents next weekend as the team hosts No. 1 Florida and No. 10 South Carolina at the Alabama Tennis Stadium
First serve against the Gators is at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, while the Tide plays the Gamecocks on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT
Alabama will also face UAB on Sunday, going head-to-head with the Blazers at 6 p.m. CT
