The Crimson Tide won a pair of 1-0 games against the Bison to open the spring season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team opened its spring season Saturday with a pair of 60-minute games against Lipscomb at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Crimson Tide won the first matchup 1-0 off a goal from Ashlynn Serepca before Felicia Knox scored a late goal in the second game for the Tide's second 1-0 win.
In game one, the Crimson Tide and Bison sat tied through the opening 56 minutes of the match before Alabama found its go-ahead goal from Serepca. Riley Tanner crossed the ball from just outside the six-yard box to Serepca, who was unmarked in front of the net. With her first touch, Serepca slid the ball past the keeper into the back of the goal.
After a short break, the two teams resumed action for game two. Alabama again was tied with Lipscomb late in the game. Momentum started to build around the 40-minute mark with a series of shots on frame, but the Lipscomb goalkeeper kept the Tide off the scoreboard. With five minutes remaining, Knox was tripped inside the box to set up a penalty kick. The Bison's keeper saved the first shot, but was unable to collect the ball as Knox sent a shot to the opposite goal post for the win.
