Alabama Soccer Opens Spring Season Against Lipscomb

The Crimson Tide competes at home in its first spring game Saturday at 2 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team opens the spring season, Saturday against Lipscomb at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Crimson Tide and Bison will play two 60-minute games with the first contest kicking off at 2 p.m. CT.
The Game
- Alabama will host Lipscomb in its spring opener Saturday
- The two teams have met just one time in a regular season match with Alabama winning that meeting 1-0 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex
- Alabama and Lipscomb met on the pitch in March of 2021 as the Tide took the Bison into overtime
- In that overtime game, Reyna Reyes netted the game-ending goal off a cross from Bella Scaturro
The Fall
- The Tide is coming off one of its best seasons in the last 20 years, which included the program's first ever NCAA Second Round appearance
- Alabama won its first NCAA Tournament game in a 1-0 win on the road at Clemson
- The team set a program record for most single season wins on its home field with 10 which included a seven-game winning streak at the Alabama Soccer Stadium
- The Tide posted its best winning percentage in Southeastern Conference play since the 1998 season
- During the year, Alabama topped two top-25 opponents in No. 24 LSU and No. 19 Auburn
- In addition to its wins over LSU and Auburn, the Tide battled No. 6 TCU into overtime, becoming one of just two teams to take the Horned Frogs into overtime during the regular season
- The Crimson Tide has outscored its opponents when playing at home 23-8
Off The Field
- Reyna Reyes was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team, the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and First Team All-SEC
- Reyes also earned TopDrawSoccer's Team of the Week honors following her defensive performance in the team's first-ever NCAA Tournament win when Alabama defeated Clemson, 1-0, as well as SEC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal against then-No. 24 LSU and SEC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Tide's upset win over then-No. 19 Auburn
- Bella Scaturro was named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Team for her performance in the classroom and on the field
- Scaturro also earned TopDrawSoccer's Team of the Week honors following the team's upset win over No. 24 LSU
- Kat Rogers was named to the SEC Community Service Team
- The Crimson Tide had 20 student-athletes named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll for their scholastic achievement in the fall
The Bison
- The Bison concluded their season with an overall record of 15-5-1
- The team averaged 1.95 goals per game in the fall
- Molly Grant led the team in both goals, with eight on the season, and points, with 21, while also ranking second in assists with five
- CJ Graham anchored the defense with 81 saves and 13 shoutouts in goal, while giving up just 13 goals during the year
- Lipscomb ended its season with a 1-2 record against SEC Opponents, defeating Mississippi State (2-1) and falling to Vanderbilt (2-0) and Tennessee (3-0) in the NCAA Tournament
