TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A trio of Alabama gymnasts brought home four Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season All-America honors, it was announced Thursday.
Luisa Blanco led the way for the Tide, earning the honor on both the balance beam and uneven bars, both for the second year in a row. Gymnasts with the top-eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties) for each event plus the all-around earn First Team All-America honors. Second team All-America accolades go to gymnasts ranked 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.
After opening the postseason by posting its 31st top-two finish at the 2021 SEC team title on March 19, Alabama will travel across the country to take part in the NCAA Seattle Regional Championships March 30-April 2. The Crimson Tide opens competition Thursday, March 31 at 3 p.m. CT in Alaska Airline Arena on the University of Washington campus, with the top-two teams from that session advancing to Saturday's regional final, which gets underway at 7 p.m. CT.
