The Crimson Tide defeat the Blazers for the second time this season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A six-run sixth inning pushed fourth-ranked Alabama softball to an 8-1 road win Wednesday night at UAB.

Alabama (25-4) fell behind early after a first-inning RBI single from UAB (17-11) but quickly responded with a run to tie it in the second off a bunt single from Jenna Lord. Scoring opportunities passed for both teams in the fourth, as the Crimson Tide left two in scoring position and the Blazers stranded the bases loaded to keep it a 1-1 game. With two out and the bases loaded in the top of the fifth, a fielding error extended the inning and gave Alabama the one-run lead before the Tide broke things open with a six-run sixth inning to lead 8-1, which ultimately proved final.

Ally Shipman and Jenna Johnson both posted multi-hit performances, each scoring a run. Six other Tide players tallied a hit in the win, including Aubrey Barnhart's first career hit and a fourth-inning single for Ashley Prange to extend her hitting streak to six games. Jaala Torrence (5-1) earned the win in relief, throwing 4.0 hitless shutout innings.
