Three Alabama Women’s Golfers Earn Top-20 Finishes at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

The Crimson Tide finished in eighth place as a team
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Polly Mack, Angelica Moresco and Benedetta Moresco all finished in the top 20 at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, helping the University of Alabama women's golf team to an eighth-place team finish. The Crimson Tide recorded a 17-over-par 301 Wednesday, earning a 28-over-par 880 (290-289-301) tournament total at Long Cove Golf Club (par 71, 6,281 yards).
No. 5 Wake Forest won the event, finishing nine strokes clear of the field on a 9-over-par 861 (291-280-290). No. 4 South Carolina finished runner up with an 18-over-par 870, firing off a 1-under-par 283 on Wednesday, the lowest round of the day. No. 13 Arizona State finished in third place on a 20-over-par 872.
The 17-team field in the 10th iteration of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate featured 10 teams ranked in the Golfstat.com top 25 including No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 8 Alabama, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 11 Texas, No. 13 Arizona State, No.17 LSU, No. 18 Auburn, No. 21 Baylor and No. 22 Duke. Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Northwestern and Vanderbilt.
B. Moresco paced Alabama on the final day with an even-par 71, tying for ninth overall at 2-over-par 215 (71-73-71). Moresco was consistent throughout the round, and tournament, shooting one-over on the front nine before closing with a one-under on the back nine. The sophomore now has four top-10 finishes on the season and eight for her career.
After a 3-under-par 68 in Tuesday's second round, Mack recorded a 5-over-par 76 Wednesday, closing out the tournament tied for 13th place at 4-over-par 217. She recorded a team-leading 10 birdies over the course of the three-day, 54-hole event, also continuing her streak of contributing every round this season to the team total (18 consecutive rounds).
Angelica Moresco carded a 5-over-par 76 in the final 18 holes, finishing tied for 20th place overall on a 6-over-par 219. It is the graduate student's second straight top-20 finish after tying for 10th place at last week's Moon Golf Invitational.
Sarah Edwards carded a final-round, 7-over-par 78 to finish in 78th place on a tournament total of 20-over-par 233 (77-78-78). Isabella van der Biest recorded a 10-over-par 81 Wednesday, rounding out the Crimson Tide's lineup in 81st place at 22-over-par 235 (73-81-81).
