No. 19 Alabama Falls, 5-2, In Saturday Match To No. 9 Auburn

The Crimson Tide returns to action to face Ole Miss and Mississippi State in back-to-back road matches next weekend
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The No. 19 Alabama women's tennis team (12-3, 2-1 SEC) fell, 5-2, to No. 9 Auburn (12-2, 3-0 SEC) Saturday at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
Alabama fought back with wins on courts five and one, respectively, to even the score at 2-2, after Auburn captured the doubles point and the first singles victory. Wins at courts two and three, however, would clinch the match for the Tigers.
The Match
- Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak put together a dominate 6-0 performance on court three against Madeline Meredith and Carolyn Ansari to give the Tide the advantage, however the Tigers would even the attempt for the doubles point with a win on court one
- Alabama jumped out fast on court two but Auburn battled back, winning some late contested games to win the doubles point with a 7-5 score
- Auburn extended its lead to 2-0 with a win on court six, but Anne Marie Hiser fought to take a two-set 6-3, 6-4 victory against Georgie Axon at court five to put Alabama on the scoreboard
- No. 75-ranked Loudmilla Bencheikh evened the team score at 2-2, topping No. 57 Selin Ovunc 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot
- Auburn captured a two-set win at court two, before emerging victorious in a three-set battle on court three for the team victory

- The Tide opens the weekend at Ole Miss Friday at 3 p.m. CT, before heading to Mississippi State for a Sunday match slated to begin at noon CT
