
Alabama Swimmers Tally 23 Top-10 Finishes at Auburn Invitational

The Crimson Tide also posted a pair of swims that rank among Alabama’s all-time top 10
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama swimmers came away with 23 top-10 finishes along with a pair of times that rank among the Crimson Tide's all-time top 10 at the Auburn Invitational at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center this weekend.
Ben Hines won the 50 freestyle with a career-best time of 19.71, the Tide's second fastest time of the season.
Anna Ogren took third in the 100 butterfly after posting a 52.93, which ranks her sixth all-time at Alabama, while Maddie Mechling touched the wall with a 1:57.18 in the 200 backstroke, taking third place and ranking her ninth all-time for the Tide.
More Top-10 Finishes
- John Shelstad (53.76) took second and Jack Zhu (54.51) was sixth in the men's 100 breaststroke
- Anna Ogren turned in a 1:58.78 in the women's 200 butterfly to take fourth place
- Riley VanMeter (47.52) and Ben Hines (47.55) took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's 100 butterfly
- Maddie Mechling (55.06) and Savannah Slater (55.17), finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the women's 100 backstroke
- Jocelyn Fisher took fifth with a 2:16.55 and Sophia Garrison finished sixth with a 2:17.35 in the women's 200 breaststroke
- Kasia Norman (1:01.72), Garrison (1:02.49) and Fisher (1:02.99) finished fifth, eighth and ninth, respectively, in the women's 100 breaststroke
- Hines swam a 43.99 in the men's 100 freestyle to take sixth place
- VanMeter took sixth with a time of 1:48.00, while Cole Brown went 1:49.51, good for 10th in the men's 200 butterfly
- Blake Peeples finished seventh in the men's 1,650 freestyle after posting a 15:31.24
- John Shelstad went 20.28 to take eighth in the men's 50 freestyle
- Blake Peeples posted a 4:25.40 in the men's 500 freestyle, taking eighth place
- Mechling (22.96) took eighth and Garrison (23.21) was 10th in the women's 50 freestyle
Top Time Trial Swims
- Maddie Mechling raced to a 54.34 in the 100 backstroke
- Sophie Garrison turned in a 1:01.76 in her 100 breaststroke time trial
- Jack Zhu went at 54.41 in his 100 breaststroke time trial
