
Alabama Swimming and Diving Duo Named to SEC Community Service Team

Crimson Tide seniors Cole Brown and Ashley Voelkerding were named the 2022 team for their work in the community
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama duo of Cole Brown and Ashley Voelkerding were named to the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, the league office announced Tuesday. The league's community service teams highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to their community with superior service efforts.
An SEC Championships scorer and a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Brown earned the honor for the second year in a row. The senior serves as the chair of The University of Alabama Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's community service committee. In addition to directing SAAC's outreach efforts, he has given of his time to several projects, including the Crimson Tide's Halloween Extravaganza, A Night to Shine, the Alberta Head Start reading initiative, Habitat for Humanity, Project Angel Tree and the Alberta Easter Egg Hunt.
A Scholar All-American, school record setter, SEC scorer and member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Voelkerding has worked extensively in the community during her Crimson Tide tenure. The senior has given her time to the Alberta Head Start reading initiative, the Crimson Tide's Halloween Extravaganza, working with children at the Belk Activity Center, the Lee County Tornado Relief efforts, A Night to Shine and Project Angel Tree. Voelkerding graduated from Alabama in December 2021 with a bachelor's degree in public health and is currently finishing her MBA as part of UA's Stem to MBA program.
The Crimson Tide is at the 2022 SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., this week, with action starting Tuesday and continuing through Saturday.
