TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team tallied its eighth consecutive win and ninth straight victory inside Coleman Coliseum with a 55-45 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday.
Several players highlighted the stat sheet for the Tide as Alabama moved to 10-2 on the year. Brittany Davis captured her 1,000th career point in the game as the graduate student recorded her second double-double of the season off of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Aaliyah Nye tied a career-high seven three-pointers as her season-high 21-point performance in the game led all scorers. Sarah Ashlee Barker tied a career-high 12 rebounds and tallied a season high-five assists while Jada Rice secured three blocks and three steals in the win.
Southeastern Louisiana (5-4) was led by Alexius Horne, who recorded 10 points, while Chrissy Brown tallied six points and a team-leading seven rebounds in the loss.
Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"Southeastern Louisiana is a really well coached team. They do a really good job of packing the paint and making you make decisions. They are (ranked) at 84 in the NET this week and I think they're going to have a really good season, especially when they get a couple of players back that are injured. I think they'll go on to have great success in their league. But again, (they) did a really good job today of not giving a lot of looks at the rim and keeping us off the free throw line.
"We did a really good job late of sharing the basketball and making the extra pass with 16 assists on 19 baskets. We were making shots when we needed to and just finding the open person. I really liked our selflessness late in the game and I like the way we rebounded the ball. Sitting here, we all know that we have to continue to clean up our turnovers and our decisions have to improve. At the end of the day, I think the assists and sharing the basketball, finding a way to really dominate the glass and doing some of the things that we did, were able to counter the few possessions that we gave up. Proud of our team today against a good team again, I just want to credit them."
