Alabama Men’s Tennis Samofalov, Jones Win Matches On Day Two Of The SEC/Big 12 Challenge

Joao Ferreira continued his run at the CCB Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., and will finish competition in the consolation bracket Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– Alabama men's tennis players German Samofalov and Roan Jones recorded wins in doubles, while also winning their respective singles matches Saturday at the SEC/Big 12 Challenge at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Joao Ferreira also competed Saturday in the consolation bracket at the Country Club of Birmingham Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.

SEC/Big 12 Challenge Doubles
- German Samofalov and Roan Jones defeated Oklahoma State's (OSU) Leighton Allen and Carl Roothman in the Tide's first match of the day
- The UA duo came out on top, 6-1
- Filip Planinsek and Matias Ponce De Leon fell short to OSU's Isaac Becroft and Chase Ferguson, 6-4
SEC/Big 12 Challenge Singles
- German Samofalov was victorious over OSU's Leighton Allen 6-0, 7-5
- Roan Jones defeated OSU's Carl Roothman 6-2, 6-3
- Matias Ponce De Leon fell 6-3, 6-3 in his matchup against the Cowboy's Chase Ferguson
- Filip Planinsek fell to his opponent from OSU, Isaac Becroft, dropping 6-1 in the first set
- The UA sophomore fought back to tie at 6-6 in the second set, before falling in the tiebreak 7-4
- The Tide will continue play Sunday at 10 a.m. CT
CCB Invitational
- Joao Ferreira continued play Saturday in the third round of the tournament
- The UA sophomore fell short to Washington's Cesar Bouchelaghem 6-3, 6-2
- Ferreira will play in the consolation round versus Belmont's Alfred Wallin on Sunday
