Alabama Rowing Welcomes Eight Athletes During November Signing Period

The eight newest members of the Crimson Tide will join for the 2023-24 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing announced the addition of eight new athletes during the November signing period, all of whom are set to join the Crimson Tide for the 2023-24 season.
"This is a great class," UA head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "We were looking for athletes that love rowing and see Alabama as the best place to pursue their academic and athletic goals. All these athletes possess these traits, and we can't wait for them to join our team."
Zoe DeFeo– Winter Park, Fla.
- Won Florida State Championship and Scholastic National Championship in the Varsity 8+ in 2022
- Raced at Royal Henley Regatta in England and made the grand final in 2022
- Won the Coach's Award in 2021
- Attended 2021 Olympic Development Camp for Southeast Region
"I chose Alabama because of its rich tradition of athletic and academic excellence. The school is beautiful, the rowing facilities are incredible, and the energy throughout the campus is unmatched. I'm excited to be a part of the Alabama athletic family and to be able to contribute to the place where Legends are Made!"
Julianna Franklin – Long Island, N.Y.
- Raced at Youth Nationals in 2022 in the Youth 8+
- Raced at Head of the Charles in the Youth 8+

Sydney Goldman – Bethesda, Md.
- Bronze at Stotesbury Cup in Senior 8+ in 2021
- 5th at Summer Nationals in 2022 in the Youth 8+
- 1st at WMIRA Championship in Senior 8+ in 2021
"I knew as soon as I met the coaches and the team that Alabama would be perfect for me. I can't wait to be a part of such an exciting atmosphere on campus and push myself alongside such talented athletes! Roll tide!"
Elsie Jackson – Chicago, Ill.
- Finished 3rd at Head of the Hooch this fall in the U19 8+
- Competitive gymnast until 2021, when she transitioned to rowing

Ingrid Lofgren – Milwaukee, Wis.
- Invited to USRowing Selection Camp in 2022 and 2021
- Competed at Summer Nationals as a part of the Selection Development team, finishing 1st in the 4- and 2nd in the 2-.
- Competed at Youth Nationals and Head of the Charles
- Competitive swimmer and triathlete

Ashley Perrott – Winter Park, Fla.

But not only that, where the school and rowing facilities are located are beautiful. As Coach Bianca said, those beautiful trees really do get you."
Annadele Tuggle – Greensboro, N.C.
- Raced in the 1x, 2x, and 4x on regional and national levels
- Previously competed in gymnastics
"I chose Alabama because first of all it's always been top of my list, but I couldn't solidify that decision since I had never visited. Once I visited it felt right. I've visited many other schools in-state and out, but none compared to Alabama. I loved the atmosphere, coaches, team, facilities, and campus. Alabama is very pretty and well-kept. The opportunities at UA are endless and UA is the one school that lived up to its name. When I left, I knew that's where I need to go and it's the best choice for me."
Sydney Warmbier – Lithia, Fla.
- 3rd place in the Varsity 1x at Nationals and 2nd place at Florida State Championship in 2022
- 3rd place in the 2- at Florida State Championship, 2021
- Invited to US Rowing High Performance Camp, Summer of 2022
- Raced in the Youth 4x and Youth 8+ at Summer Nationals, finishing 4th in the 8+
- Competitive swimmer
"What I am most excited about being a student-athlete at UA is what I can accomplish while I'm there. I am very competitive, and I am ready for the challenge of whatever is thrown my way. I can see many opportunities for myself here. I cannot wait to get the chance to work with the phenomenal coaching staff and my future teammates. There is also something so infectious about the students' energy and enthusiasm that I cannot wait to be a part of it. Roll Tide!"
