
Alabama’s Kensey McMahon & Rhyan White Earn World Championships Berths with Team USA

The Crimson Tide duo will represent the United States National Team in Melbourne, Australia, at the 2022 FINA World Short Course Championships
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Alabama swimming and diving's Rhyan White and Kensey McMahon have been named to the United States FINA World Short Course Championships Team, it was announced recently.
Already an Olympic and World medalist, this will be White's third trip to the World Championships. McMahon is making her second trip to Worlds, and her first in the pool, after making her debut this past summer at the Open Water World Championships. The duo will travel to Melbourne, Australia, December 13-18.
Both women are fifth-year seniors on the Crimson Tide's 2022-23 squad.
Rhyan White
- First member of the Alabama women's program to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic Swim Team
- Competed at the Tokyo Olympiad, earning silver in the 400-meter medley relay and taking fourth place in both the 100m and 200m backstrokes
- Became the first UA woman to win an event at the U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials, taking first in the 200m backstroke after finishing second in the 100m backstroke
- Earned a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke at the 2022 FINA World Long Course Championships
- 2021 FINA Short Course World Champion in the 200m backstroke and silver medalist as part of Team USA's 200m medley relay
- Won the 200m backstroke and took silver in the 100m backstroke at the 2022 USA Swimming Summer National Championships
Kensey McMahon
- Took 10th at the 2022 FINA World Open Water Championships in the 25-kilometer race
- Earned a spot on the USA Swimming National Team in 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2022-23 and is part of the U.S. Open Water National Team for 2022-23
- Took 15th in the 10-kilometer race at the 2022 FINA Marathon Swim World Series in Setúbal, Portugal
- Took eighth overall and fifth among Americans in the 10-kilometer race at the 2022 United States Open Water Championships
- Earned a trio of bronze medals at the 2022 USA Swimming Summer National Championships in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m freestyles
