Clutch Shots, Stellar Final Round Helps Alabama Women’s Golf to a Fourth-Place Finish at the Ally

Van der Biest’s hole-in-one highlighted the Crimson Tide’s third round of play, Kehoe and Adams both finish among the top 10
WEST POINT, Miss. – Alabama carded a final round score of 6-over par 294, the second-best round by any team on Tuesday, to help the women's golf team move up three spots and finish in fourth overall at The Ally. The Crimson Tide finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a team score of 899 (307-298-294) to result in the team's best tournament finish of the fall season.
For a second consecutive round, the shot of the day came from an Alabama golfer. After Kynadie Adams' albatross – a double eagle score of two on a par 5 – on the 485-yard par 5 ninth hole in Monday's second round, Isabella van der Biest took center stage when she recorded a hole-in-one with a six-iron on the par 3, 164-yard seventh hole Tuesday. It was a first for both golfers in their golfing careers.
Meanwhile, freshman Taylor Kehoe shined throughout the event as she tied for fifth overall with a 54-hole total of 1-over par 217 (72-74-71). Not only was it a career-best finish, but she also recorded personal best marks for 18 holes (71), 36 holes (146) and 54 holes in the event.

Head Coach Mic Potter overall thoughts
We played much better today. We talked as a team before the round that it was going to be cold and windy. We talked about needing to just hang in there, hit every shot to the best of your ability and we will be able to make up some ground. And that's exactly what we did. We still have a lot to improve on, but we are making progress. Now we have to get out of digging ourselves a hole to climb out of, and that's something myself and (assistant coach) Susan (Rosenstiel) will work on.
"I thought Taylor did a great job today. And with Kynadie finishing once again in the top 10, I think our freshmen are getting the hang of it. We need to have a consistent four scores and do all those little things that go toward low scores in college golf."

"That was the first time I have ever hit a hole-in-one, practice or tournament. I didn't see the ball go in the hole and when I walked up to the green, I couldn't find the ball. My playing partner said she was going to check the hole – never thinking it would be in there – and then she let out a scream. I couldn't believe it."

"I have never hit an albatross in my life. I hit a good drive and had 224 yards to the hole with the pin in the back left of the green. I knew I had 210 to carry the bunker with the wind in my face so I went right at it. It was probably the best I've ever hit a 3 wood in my life. It got held up a little in the wind, so it landed softly. I saw everyone put their hands up as it was rolling on the green and then I heard them scream."
The Lineup
- Taylor Kehoe led the field in par 3 scoring (-2, 2.83) and ranked in a tie for third in par 5 average (-2, 4.83)
- Kehoe's 38 pars were second-best in the field while her eight birdies matched Adams for the most on the team
- The Strathroy, Ontario, native was the only golfer in the Tide's lineup to score par or better, doing so in the first (even par 72) and third (-1, 71) rounds
- In addition to her albatross, one of the rarest occurrences in golf, Kynadie Adams matched Kehoe with eight birdies to share the team lead and rank in a tie for fifth-most in the field
- Benedetta Moresco, the individual medalist from the same tournament a year ago, finished tied for 29th with a 228 (80-74-74)
- Isabella van der Biest (82-77-75) and Sarah Edwards (82-77-75) tied for 43rd overall with matching scores of 234
- It is believed to be the first time in program history that Alabama golfers recorded a hole-in-one and an albatross in the same tournament
The Field
- No. 7 Ole Miss (+3, 867) shot even par 288 in round three to leapfrog No. 30 SMU (+5, 869) and win the team title by two strokes
- Tournament host and No. 3-ranked Mississippi State (+22, 886) finished in third, 12 shots better than Alabama, with Old Dominion (+36, 900) rounding out the top five teams
