
Alabama Cross Country Duo Earns SEC Weekly Honors for Third Time This Season

Victor Kiprop earned SEC Runner of the Week and Hilda Olemomoi earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the third time each
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama cross country duo of Victor Kiprop and Hilda Olemomoi both earned their third Southeastern Conference honors of the season, the league office announced Tuesday. Kiprop was named the SEC Runner of the Week after winning his third race in as many outings, while Olemomoi earned SEC Freshman of the Week after her third top-three finish this season.
Victor Kiprop – SEC Runner of the Week
- Kiprop earned SEC Runner of the Week for the third time in 2022 and remains undefeated on the season
- He bettered the field by nine seconds to win the Crimson Classic and lead Alabama to its third team championships of 2022
- Kiprop's time of 23:16.9 came over 8,075 meters
Hilda Olemomoi – SEC Freshman of the Week
- Olemomoi was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time in her rookie season
- She took second in the Crimson Classic in 19:39.8, a fraction of a second behind teammate Amaris Tyynismaa
- It was her third top-three finish in as many outings this season
- Her finish helped propel the Tide to a decisive win its first home competition since 2017
